WHEN DOES LIFE BEGIN?

I googled the title of this article and found a myriad of answers. It seems that scientists define the beginning of life depending on what they are studying. For metabolism study, it is the simple matter of a cell functioning or not. Genetically, life begins at conception. Embryology places the start of life at gastrulation, about fourteen days after fertilisation. For neurology, the start of life can be defined as the start of a recognisable Electroencephalography, or brain activity. On top of this confusion, every state varies on its understanding of life and its laws regarding the beginning of human life and abortion laws. The supreme court has ruled the period of the first trimester of pregnancy as the time when an abortion can take place and the second trimester only after a doctor has done thorough exams that ensure the woman's safety. But even their position is a little misleading. In the famous case of Roe vs. Wade, The Supreme Court stated that prenatal life was not within the definition of "persons" as used and protected in the U.S. Constitution and that America's criminal and civil laws only sometimes regard fetuses as persons deserving protection.

The reason i was prompted to write this article was a young man facing murder charges for giving his girlfriend abortive pills. What he did was wrong. But was it murder? I believe it was. But what changes things when she does it.

I believe life begins out of Gods breath. He is the giver and taker of life and we humans shouldn't try to play that role.

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."Genesis 2:7
